Quick Guide: Weaving
In case you are new to the world of Fiber Arts, check out my quick guide to the basics of knitting, crocheting, weaving, and felting. (I don’t claim to be an expert! This is just to give you the “gist” of each).
Weaving tends to be one of the older and more traditional forms of fiber arts, dating back to ancient cultures. Weaving in of itself is quite simple. It consists of interlacing threads together at a perpendicular angle. Today most people have a weaving loom which is almost essential to making the process run smooth and easy. Typically, weaving looms are set up with vertical strands of yarn or thread spaced evenly apart and pulled taut. The main material is then woven horizontally through every other strand of the taut threads. Typically weaving is used to form a fabric or cloth or some sort.
